The session lasts 60 mins. A trained therapist takes the client’s case history, followed by a thorough explanation of the procedure. During the session, a disposable speculum is gently inserted into the rectum through which warm filtered water is slowly passed into the client’s colon, which helps impacted waste products to pass through a transparent tube. In the process, the client gets an abdominal massage to help increase peristalsis (the muscular action of the colon to move waste through). Also, to dislodge toxic waste matter adhering to the walls of the colon and will assist in moving gas through.

Before your session, we recommend that you refrain from consuming food for 2-3 hours prior to your treatment; however, drinking plenty of water or eating raw vegetables is beneficial for hydration. If possible, avoid processed foods, bread, alcohol, caffeine, and refined sugars for a couple of days leading up to your colonic treatment. 

CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR COLON HYDROTHERAPY (Absolute Contraindications) Abdominal Hernia 

• Active Fissure 
• Active inflammatory bowel disorders—ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s, colitis, and diverticulitis. 
• Active rectal fistula 
• Anticoagulants, e.g., dalteparin, tinzaparin, and warfarin. 
• Autonomic dysreflexia (occurs in spinal injury at or above T6) 
• Bowel obstruction, e.g., adhesions, volvulus, tumor etc 
• Carcinoma of the colon or rectum. 
• Chemotherapy 
• Diabetes—uncontrolled 
• Epilepsy—uncontrolled 
• Heart failure 
• Hypertension (severe or uncontrolled) 
• Inflamed haemorrhoids (piles) 
• Intussusception 
• Liver function 
• Pregnant 
• Radiotherapy of the abdominal area was not discharged from medical care. 
• Rectal bleeding 
• Reduced kidney function 
• Tight sphincter 
• Undiagnosed persistent diarrhea. 
• Severe Anaemia
